LAUNCH OF A R&D PARTNERSHIPT
EFFICACITY / OLENERGIES
Olenergies and the Institute for Energy Transition Efficacity announce an R&D partnership to test Efficacity’s OptiGrid stochastic optimisation software tool on Olenergies batteries by the integration of OptiGrid with the OlenPEPS intelligent digital control platform.
The aim of this collaboration is to validate OptiGrid in real conditions by the end of 2020.
The OptiGrid tool, at the crossroads of research in applied mathematics and artificial intelligence, makes it possible to optimise the storage of renewable energy with a view to improving the profitability and sustainability of local energy systems.
OptiGrid is the result of the work of three theses funded by Efficacity and supervised by researchers from the École des Ponts Paristech and IFSTTAR.
The initial simulation work has made it possible to assess the profitability of using a battery for recovering braking energy in metro systems. The research work then made it possible to validate the methods implemented within OptiGrid on a large amount of real data. OptiGrid has also been successfully deployed in the SenseCity research facility (a 400 m² climatic chamber equipped with a multitude of sensors reproducing a “Mini-City”), in order to control the energy of its buildings.
OptiGrid has now reached a sufficient stage of maturity to be applied to all projects for the control and optimisation of Olenergies storage systems.
